Deepgram for Startups gives early-stage voice AI companies up to $100,000 in credits for Deepgram’s speech-to-text, text-to-speech and Voice Agent APIs, usable over 12 months. Direct applicants start at $1,000 and can move up to larger tiers as their usage grows. We checked the official programme and pricing pages on 1 November 2026.
What you get
Credit tiers
| Route | Starting credits | Ceiling |
|---|---|---|
| Direct application | $1,000 in Startup Program credits | Tiers up to $100,000 as usage grows |
| Through a Deepgram partner (VC, accelerator, startup network) | Enhanced offer listed on the partner’s perks page | Up to $100,000 |
Deepgram says the amount you receive depends on three things: your company’s stage, how you plan to use Deepgram, and whether a partner referred you.
What the credits cover
The credits work across Deepgram’s speech-to-text (STT), text-to-speech (TTS) and Voice Agent APIs. Deepgram bills by usage rather than seats, so you can add as many team members as you need without affecting the credit balance.
Other benefits
Accepted startups also get access to invite-only events, engineering support groups and the Deepgram startup community.
Expiry
Each credit grant expires 12 months after it is issued. Deepgram does not spell out how tier upgrades are dated, so check the expiry shown for each grant in your console.
The free tier, for comparison
Every new Deepgram account receives a $200 credit on signup. No credit card is needed, and Deepgram’s pricing page says this credit does not expire. You can start testing on that while your startup application is reviewed.
Who qualifies
Deepgram asks that applicants are:
- an AI builder or early-stage startup
- in production, or planning to launch within the next six months
- committed to building actively and taking part in the Deepgram community
Some edge cases are spelled out:
- Raised more than $10M: reviewed case by case. Deepgram encourages you to apply if you are still early with voice AI.
- Existing Deepgram customers: welcome to apply, also reviewed case by case.
- Agencies and consultants: not eligible if you are building for clients. Deepgram points agencies to its sales team instead.
How to apply
- Sign up for a Deepgram account to get the $200 signup credit and a console where startup credits will land.
- Fill in the application on the Deepgram for Startups page, describing your startup and how you plan to use voice AI.
- Wait for a reply. Deepgram typically responds within one week.
- Receive the credits. After approval, credits are deposited in your console automatically within 24-48 hours.
If you are in a VC, accelerator or startup network that partners with Deepgram, look up the offer on that partner’s perks page first, since it may start higher than the $1,000 direct tier.
Things to check before you apply
- The $100,000 is a ceiling. Direct applicants start at $1,000. Larger tiers depend on growth and product usage.
- 12-month expiry per grant. Unused startup credits lapse a year after issue, unlike the non-expiring $200 signup credit.
- Check partner perks pages. A partner referral can change your starting amount, so it is worth asking your investor or accelerator before applying directly.
- Community commitment. Deepgram expects accepted startups to stay active with its community, so treat this as part of the deal.
- Client work does not count. If you build voice products for clients rather than your own product, the startup programme is not the right route.
How it compares
Among speech AI providers, Deepgram is unusually open about numbers: it publishes both a starting tier and a ceiling, plus a clear expiry rule. The direct $1,000 starter offer is modest, but stacked with the $200 signup credit it covers a meaningful amount of prototyping before you qualify for higher tiers.
