Deel does not run a startup credit programme in the usual sense. Its official startup offer is a pricing bundle: free US payroll for founders, and the first 5 seats free for life for venture-backed startups that have raised at least $500k. We checked Deel’s startup and partner pages on 1 November 2026, and this post sets out exactly what Deel publishes, and what it leaves unsaid.
What you get
Deel’s startup page lists two parts to the bundle:
| Offer | Detail | Who it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Free US payroll for founders | Free for life | Founders, per Deel’s startup page |
| First 5 seats free | Free for life | Venture-backed startups with at least $500k raised |
Both are described as lasting for life rather than for a fixed promotional period, which is unusual for a startup deal. Deel does not state on the page which product the five free seats apply to, or what happens to pricing once you pass five. Since the bundle sits on a page focused on payroll, HR and hiring, expect the details to be set during the sales conversation.
Credits through Stripe Atlas
There is one dollar credit offer on Deel’s own site. Companies formed through Stripe Atlas can get up to $1,500 in Deel credits through a dedicated Deel page. Deel’s terms for that offer are specific:
- Credits apply only to Deel fees, and only for new clients.
- The amount is capped at $1,500 and depends on choosing annual upfront billing.
- Credits count toward Deel’s software fees, not salaries, benefits costs or expenses.
- At most 3 months of Employer of Record and Contractor of Record fees can be covered.
- Mobility sponsorships and Deel IT hardware are excluded.
Who qualifies
For the founder payroll offer, Deel’s startup page does not list any funding or stage requirement.
For the five free seats, the rule is stated plainly. You must be venture-backed and have raised at least $500k, and that funding must be verifiable on Crunchbase. Bootstrapped companies and those with smaller rounds do not meet it.
For the Stripe Atlas credits, you need to be a Stripe Atlas customer and new to Deel.
Which Deel products are in play
Deel covers a wide range: Employer of Record for hiring abroad without an entity, contractor management, US and global payroll, HR software, IT and device management, and visa support. The startup page markets all of these to early teams, but the free bundle is framed around payroll and seats. If most of your hires will be contractors or Employer of Record staff in other countries, those costs are likely to sit outside the free part, so get a quote for your actual hiring plan before you assume the bundle covers it.
How to claim
Deel does not use an application form for the startup bundle. The steps are:
- Check that your Crunchbase profile shows at least $500k in funding, if you want the free seats.
- Go to the Deel for startups page and book a demo.
- Raise the startup pricing bundle on the call and confirm which seats and products it covers for your setup.
- If you formed your company with Stripe Atlas, use the Deel page for Stripe Atlas customers instead to request the credit offer, and choose annual upfront billing if you want the full amount.
Things to check before you apply
- Get the terms in writing. “For life” and “5 seats” are the only details Deel publishes. Ask which product the seats are on, and whether the offer survives a plan change.
- Crunchbase is the proof. An incomplete or missing Crunchbase profile could cost you the free seats.
- Atlas credits need annual upfront billing. Monthly billing may reduce or remove the $1,500.
- Atlas credits do not pay people. They offset Deel’s fees only, never salaries or benefits.
- Other partner offers. Banks, accelerators and investors sometimes advertise their own Deel perks. We could not confirm those amounts on Deel’s own site, so check them with Deel before relying on them.
How it compares
Most startup offers covered on SaaSDeals.io are one-off credits that expire within a year. Deel’s bundle works the other way: a smaller, ongoing price cut aimed at the stage where a founder team runs its first payroll. For a funded US startup with a handful of staff, five free seats for life could be worth more over time than a one-off credit. For bootstrapped founders, the free founder payroll is the part that applies.
